Project
Development: What to Expect
Preliminary:
- Discuss
plan for the project.
- A
simple contract is drawn up and signed by all parties.
- We
provide a list of questions/topics to be covered.
- We
provide a preliminary outline of the story. This allows
you to make any special requests before the final interview.
Stage
One: Interview/Transcription
- Collect
data, pictures, memorabilia, documents, etc.
- Conduct
all interviews and transcribe all tapes.
Stage
Two: Story, Writing, Editing
- From
the initial transcripts, we make an outline for the narrative
and a synopsis of each chapter/section of the story.
- The
outline is submitted to you for approval before writing
begins.
- You
receive a first draft copy of the narrative when finished
with suggested photo placements.
- At
this stage, you can make significant changes in the content.
- Next,
we rewrite and edit the narrative, and again submit it to
you for your approval, before we begin layout for publication.
- You
may still make minor corrections and edits to text.
- Additional
rewrites or insertion of additional material will incur
additional charges.
- Rough
scans of photos are included so you can see how the final
book will look.
- You
can insert photo captions.
Stage
Three: Layout
- After
final layout of the book is complete, you receive a final
copy for approval.
